First off I do have to say sorry to my loyal visitors for my temporary absence this past week…BUT get ready for a lot of posts this week!!! I had my busiest week ever for my little company, Sweet & Saucy, and literally worked 16 hour days every day and ended off the week with a 20 hour work day two days before one of my best friend’s weddings (If you do the math…yes, I only got 4 hours of sleep!). All of that being said I had an amazing time at their wedding and had the privilege of making their cake and cookies and even being a bridesmaid. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend trying to do both, but in the end it was all worth it! Here are some of my favorite photos from the wedding. For those of you who don’t know, I got the silhouette cookie cutters custom made to fit their profile from The Victor Trading Company. This company did an amazing job with the cutters and the end result was more than I could have asked for. The wedding theme was “Silhouettes” and my friend Karrie (the bride), who is a graphic designer too, made the theme carry through the whole wedding seamlessly…she even had the lady from Disneyland who cuts silhouettes come and cut the each guest’s silhouette! Their wedding photographer, Amy Squires, from WeddingChicks.com was absolutely amazing!!! I highly recommend her to any new bride looking for a fantastic photographer. I was also lucky enough to have a couple shots she took of my desserts and of the gorgeous bride and groom. Now I know most bloggers don’t like showing personal photos on their site, but I just can’t help sharing my joy with you all, so I hope you enjoy these photos!
The cake was two different flavors: chocolate cake with chocolate mousse buttercream and strawberries AND coconut cake with lemon cream filling and coconut cream cheese frosting! The middle tier is so tall because it is two normal size cakes stacked on top of each other with supports in between. Lastly, I covered the whole cake in swiss meringue buttercream and piped tiny white dots onto it. I lined each layer with gray ribbon and her wonderful florist added the flowers.
Congratulations to the bride & groom!

Hello Melody, I was already wondering – where you were – we have missed you!
I like the profiles themes, I can understand why you enjoy it so much – it is the perfect detail to design a perfect weding party. I saw on the picture the “older” lady – she cuts the profiles directly out of paper? If yes, I saw these technic in Berlin tourism exhibition – a man from Malaysia was also (without drawing) cutting out directly the profile – it was amazing!
I am keen on to see your further details of your last week work.
But first of all – I wish you to get a rest a bit.
Great pictures and thank you for sharing. I got my book and cant wait to use it. Now go get some sleep.
What fun! Love the wedding theme and the cookies went along so well. Great pictures to share the joy!
Thank you for sharing this moment with us, Melody – the photos are beautiful and you look gorgeous!
I love the pictures Melody! As you know, I think the silhouettes add a great touch! Your cake is wonderful too!
Everything looks so classy the bride and groom look so happy, the cake and cookies look so yummy…. I what kind of cake was it?
I love to see pictures since it feels like I know you a little better.
Thank you for sharing!
Love the wedding cake (you did a fabulous job), love the cookies, love the bridesmaid dresses, and just the whole wedding theme. Your friend did a great job carrying out the idea and you did an amazing job making it all come to life!
The cake looks wonderful and look at that height! How do you serve it? Do you separate the higher tiers with cardboard rounds?
What a busy week! The cake and cookies both look great.
Get some rest Melody! The cake, cookies, bride… gorgeous! What a bunch of fabulous looking people!
Oh what a great day you all had and the cake looked fantastic!
Wow, you are a machine! Those cookies are darling – such a fantastic idea.
Oh, that cake is soooo beautiful! If I could go back to my wedding 7 years ago, I would hire you in a heartbeat! No matter the cost! Gorgeous!
Hi there!
Hat off to both the cake and the cookies! They are so fab! I feel your pain with doing the cake and being the bridesmaid! I have been there done that and I was the one who did the bouquets and centerpieces too! Crazy stuff!
You did an absolutely beautiful job on everything…congrats on a job well done!
Awesome photos! The cake came out beautiful!

thanks for inviting us!! the photos are truly awesome!! i love the cookies!!
Hi Melody,
Just wondering where you guys got your dresses. I’m getting married next year and I LOVE them.
Thanks
Jen
million hour work weeks aren’t fun, but big things dont happen unless you make some sacrifices.
Keep up the great work
Thanks everyone for the sweet and encouraging comments!
Jen- We got the dresses from Melissa Sweet…she is a designer that does wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses here in the US.
Cakewardrobe- The middle tier is two cakes stacked on top of eachother with supports in between. So when you cut the cake you cut into the first cake on top and then take off the cardboard and cut into the next cake.
Lovely cake! Her colors for the wedding were quite unique and turned out really well. Cookies are exquisite!
Hey there-
What a beautiful cake and lovely cookies!! Very well done! Keep up the great wirk!!
Melody! Such beautiful work! I’m so amazed! All of that on virtually no sleep and you still look absolutely amazing! Great job! Really really beautiful!

Mel, You better get some rest. Everything was beautiful, well done.
Lori
Beautiful photos, and such a gorgeous cake! Can’t believe u did all that, way to go!
And I must add that those are the cutest bridesmaid dresses I’ve seen in such a long time! Maybe, like, ever!
Thank you for sharing personal photos. The happiness in these just bursts out of my computer screen! And it places your artistry in context, so much more interesting than pictures of just food. The cake is so elegant! You are justifiably proud of your work.
I love how the cake and cookies came out. Tom and I can’t wait until our own wedding and everybody is super anxious for it especially after they tasted the cake you will be making for us.
Oh and as a side note what struck me as funny, is that the woman from disneyland who did the silhouettes at the wedding, is in my paper crafting class.
Breathtaking cake! I am in awe!
love, love, love your site, i love how you have all the websites listed, how helpful was that…love it! made me want to be on you favorites list so feel free to add me!!! — dawn

hi melody,
the cake is absolutely gorgeous! may i ask: how on earth did you transport it to the venue? it’s so tall, surely there was a risk of it collapsing?
