Dreamy Bridal Shower!

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

My sweet wedding planner friend, Nancy, from So Happi Together recently asked me to do some sweets for her friend’s bridal shower & of course I said yes!  Nancy is amazing at styling and planning events and this one definitely shows that!  I have to say a huge thank you to Connie Chung for these lovely images too!!!

Featured in YWD Magazine

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I had the pleasure of working with a fabulous team of vendors a couple months ago on a table design feature for the Your Wedding Day Party here in California!  The day went perfectly  & the whole event was a great success!  What is even more fun is that we got to also be featured in the new issue of YWD Magazine!  Here are the gorgeous images!

Picture 11

Our look was “Contemporary” & here was the inspiration for the table design!

Picture 10

And here it is brought to life…

Picture 9

For the cake, when I think of modern/contemporary I envision a clean design with bold pops of color & design elements.  They were doing starbursts for part of the table design so I decided to create all custom jewel molds & place them in a way that made a large starburst.  We then accented the bottom tier with navy square jewels that created a band.

And how gorgeous is this set up!

Campground Wedding Photo Shoot

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

So since I am running tight on time, but REALLY wanted to share these fun photos I thought I’d steal the lovely words from the talented Carissa of JL Designs…

“this photo shoot was designed by the amazingly talented jesi haack for something called the “inspired creations contest”, which was put on by two lovely wedding blogs (elizabeth anne designs and the sweetest occasion)…jesi had always dreamed of doing a camping inspired bridal shoot, so she enlisted us vendors to hop on board with her playful, natural, outdoorsy ideas and run with them!”

Gabriel & Carlie shot the fabulous photos and I couldn’t be more happy with them!

Paper & Thread created the most adorable invitations, menu cards, etc!  Loved all the details!

When I stopped into Carissa’s studio to see the florals before the shoot I was so excited…they are so unique & I loved every aspect of them!

The table set up & design ideas that Jesi came up with blew my mind…she is so creative and always comes up with something new & different!

For the cake I decided to go dark brown to get the woodsy feeling and then we added balsa wood flowers up the front of the cake. Of course the genius Jesi Haack decided to place it on the grill…gotta love that girl!

Wedding Season has Begun!!!

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Boy have we been busy, busy, busy at the shop!  Two weeks ago I had 8 weddings in one weekend, this weekend we have 6, and next weekend we have 8 again!  With that being said, I have LOTS of fun photos to share with you and I hope you enjoy them!

This first cake might be one of my favorites yet!  I recently hired on a new employee, Kyong, who interned with us at the shop for 2 months & right from the start I saw how talented she was at cake decorating.  She paints flawlessly & it truly has become one of my favorite touches to add to wedding cakes!

We decided to add sugar orchids to the top of the cake and Sara did an amazing job with them!

I made a large sugar ruffle at the bottom and it was all finished!

The next wedding cake I took inspiration from their wedding invitation and did the circle pattern all over the cake!  I loved it!

IMG_9218.JPG

We then accented the cake with ruffly style anenome flowers!  Overall I loved the color combo and design!

IMG_9240.JPG

They also wanted a lot of fun mini desserts & I have to say that their dessert tags the bride got were beyond adorable!

I have also had the pleasure of doing a lot of fun groom’s cakes lately.  This next cake was my first football helmet & I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out!  The whole thing is cake & then we used bendable pipe to make the front of the mask.

The wedding cake that went with this groom’s cake was equally fun!  She wanted to incorporate her color scheme of copper & sage, her damask pattern, and the orchid’s & butterflies that were going to be at her wedding…and this is what we came up with!

Everything on the cake is made out of sugar!

Lastly we had the pleasure of doing another small, yet intricate cake for a recent wedding in which I just fell in love with the design.  The handpainting & sugar flower definitely make it one of a kind!  The pattern was taken off of the ring bearer pillow & I think it transferred beautifully onto the cake.

Thanks again for stopping by my blog!  I bet most of you know from following my twitter account that we have a fun new adventure happening at Sweet & Saucy Shop!  We have decided to start a new online store featuring the BEST cake stands, platters, domes, cupcake liners, etc…basically any dessert item that you crave!  We are hoping to have the shop up by the end of the month, so definitely stay tuned!

Brandon & Kristin Kidd’s Wedding

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

I had the pleasure of being a part of Brandon Kidd & his now lovely wife Kristin’s wedding!  I bet many of you have seen these images all over the web because their wedding truly was one of a kind.  They had an amazing team of vendors and of course the lovely Jasmine Star shot the gorgeous photos & you can check out her blog to see all of them!  Green Wedding Shoes also featured the fabulous wedding!

Lauryl Lane used raw cotton & lots of organic woodsy style florals & I truly loved them!  And Eva from Red Velvet Occasions planned the whole day flawlessly!
