Carissa’s Space Invader Baby Shower

I am so excited to share this next baby shower with you since it is for one of my sweet wedding girlfriend’s, Carissa of JL Designs! I am beyond happy for Carissa and Brian as they start this next chapter in their lives and to celebrate we did an over-the-top baby shower for them! Carissa is having a little boy and loved the idea of a space invader themed shower so that is just what we gave her. I teamed up with a bunch of my talented wedding friends to put the shower together and you can check them all out at the end of the post!

Up first the dessert bar! We created robot cake pops, cupcakes with robot toppers, “asteroids” (white chocolate dipped donut holes), “flying saucers” (custom sugar cookies), and Kyong did a great Space Invader themed cake.

Custom Kid’s Cakes

Well the kid’s cakes in my iphoto gallery have been stacking up so I thought I would share some recent ones we’ve done with you! Kyong mainly heads up the kid’s cake section and I have to say she does an amazing job bringing the cake designs to life! First up a 1st birthday party for a little rocker boy

Sesame Street and especially Elmo is always popular with the younger crowd!

This was a fun project we did recently for a 1st birthday party. They had a whole dessert bar set up too, but I don’t have those photos yet. We created three baby tigers for them and then a bunch of adorable baby tiger cake lollipops!

Irene is getting flawless at piped buttercream cakes and this next cake is one of my favorites…

This Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake is a great way to pull off the theme on only a one tier cake; simple, but fun!

This carved flamingo cake was a birthday surprise for a client and they loved it…

I just happen to love this next cake Kyong did…Spongebob and his little krabby cakes and french fries have never looked more cute.

This cake had so much detail and took quite a while to make, but I loved the final product!

And lastly the ever popular Toy Story birthday party, but this time the star of the show was Jessi!

Crazy Cakes Part 2

Recently Kyong and I had the chance to make a fun Toy Story themed cake. Now this was not your typical cake, but instead the client wanted a GIANT Woody Doll cake. It was a lot of work, but definitely worth it in the end…

And here is a fun sneak peak of what the cake looked like before we decorated it

Groom’s cakes are very popular these days and this next one was quite the challenge! The bride said her future husband loved the Transformer’s and so she wanted to surprise him with a giant Transformer. This cake took Kyong and I quite a long time to make, but we finished it & thankfully it was delivered safe & sound!

You never know what kind of crazy requests you are going to get when you own a bakery and this next cake was definitely up there in the interesting cake category! The bride said her future husband LOVED Elvis and specially “fat” Elvis, so that is what we gave her!

We get so many creative parents coming into our shops looking to put together fabulous birthday parties for this children and this mom did a fabulous job! Cakes for All Occasions

I absolutely adore this first cake on today’s post! I gave Kyong the design elements that needed to be incorporated on this Milk and Cookies themed cake and she knocked the design out of the park! I love every detail she did on this cake!

Next up is Irene’s son’s Super Hero birthday party she put together. She designed and made all the desserts for it. I also love the background she made for the dessert table. She took comic book pages and blew them up and framed them…what a great idea!

Custom cakes are a lot of fun making and this next poker themed birthday cake was no different.

We created an elegant 40th birthday cake based off the client’s invitation.

Wish I had more photos of this Guinness Beer cake Kyong did. It looked so amazing in person!

This Fedora hat cake was a lot of fun to make. I loved getting to carve it and how it came to life with the stitching and details.

Kyong recently made this adorable cake for a couple who loves beach camping in the VW Vanagon…too much fun!

Guy cakes are sometimes hard to master, but I think this muscle car cake came out pretty good!

Lastly, Kyong did a spot on hand painting of the Coppertone Kid label with a graduation twist on the theme. The client loved the beach and was a free spirit at heart.

More Eye Candy Coming Your Way!

This first cake has to be one of Kyong’s sweetest creations yet! The theme was candy land and this is what Kyong dreamt up…don’t you just love it!!!

Damask always seems to catch the eye of certain clients and for this princess bridal shower it fit just right!

Here is another fun purse cake…pretty, pink, and Chanel!

This cake Irene made and I thought it came out perfectly! Yo Gabba Gabba is still going strong at the bakery!

We get lots of requests for Toy Story cakes and I love this next one with the jean and cowboy print pattern. The badges are so fun too.

For this sweet baby shower cake we pipped on tiny dots to mimic the clothing lines and then hung some baby onsies on them.

Kyong made the perfect Dora cupcake toppers for this next order.

How adorable is this airplane and stork cake…tiny and cute

We got the chance to do a fun mardi gras cake for a 70th birthday celebration.

This cake is all about fairies, dreams, and flying ponies! The little girl sent us some photos of her room and we tried to make that design into a dreamy cake for her.

Lastly one of my favorite shower cakes I’ve done…I just love the simplicity of it…the buttons, sugar thread, and delicate sugar flower. I got the chance to make this cake for a high school friend of mine and it was such a pleasure.

I also made some matching button sugar cookies. We frosted them with royal icing so they tasted yummy and delicious and then I draped a super thin piece of fondant on top to give it the detail and texture it needed.
