Citizen Cake & Tartine Bakery

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Two of the places I knew I would have to visit during my trip to San Francisco were Citizen Cake and Tartine Bakery.  I have both of their cookbooks and have devoured them both page by page.  I was so happy I got the chance to dine at them and as you can see from the photos I enjoyed every moment of it.  So sit back and relax and drool over my lovely foodie photos from Citizen Cake!

Normally I don’t really like most of the breadsticks that restaurants put out at the beginning of the meal, but Citizen Cake changed my mind…these were delicious!

This was AMAZING!!!  Sadly I didn’t get any good photos of the mushroom risotto I had for dinner, but let me tell you…it was one of the best tasting dinners I have had in a while.

Of course I had to get my favorite dinner…A MOJITO!

This dessert was so yummy too!  It was their version of a deconstructed Red Velvet Cake.

Now onto Tartine…basically the best place for breakfast & dessert at the same time!

Now for a bite of pure heaven order one of those…their Pain Au Chocolate.

Their savory food is just as scrumptious!

And of course we had to buy those two little treats to eat back at the hotel!

Well, I have one more treat in store for you….I also stopped by a local gourmet grocery store since I heard that their homemade ice cream is to die for.   So here it is, the most delicious ice cream I have ever put my lips to from Bi-Rite Creamery!!!

It was soooo good!

I just wish I could’ve tried all of their flavors.

Just so you make sure you get the name…Malted Vanilla with Peanut Brittle and Milk Chocolate!  You have to try it!

San Francisco – Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Well, like I said in the last post my trip to Florida got cancelled so we packed up the car and drove six hours to San Francisco.  We had an absolutely amazing time and packed so many fun places into 3 days and of course all of the places were food related!!!  This post is going to be all about my trip to the Ferry Farmer’s Market.  I have been waiting years to go and it completely lived up to all of my expectations. So here are some photos of the many, many places we had the pleasure of eating at….

One of the first stops along the way was to Miette Patisserie!  They actually have two different locations and we got a chance to eat at one and at least peer into the other one at night.  Everything we ate there was amazingly delicious and absolutely gorgeous.

Here is a photo of the confiserie at night.

The next stop in the day was to Recchiuti Confections and Scharffen Berger Chocolate…both extremely yummy!

Next on the list was something a little savory, so we stopped by Acme Bread and The Cowgirl Creamery. Then we went outside and enjoyed the day!

Tim even enjoyed an oyster…something I just couldn’t bring myself to do!

Before leaving we also stopped by Ciao Bella Gelato…one of my favorite gelato places!

From the photos you can see that we had a day full of fun and lots of food!  Get ready for some more photos!

Anniversary Trip to Jin Patisserie!!!

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

As you know I do love sharing part of my life and travels with my blogging friends so I couldn’t pass up the chance to share some yummy photos from my trip to Jin Patisserie!  A couple weeks ago I celebrated my three year anniversary and my husband took me out for a fun filled trip to Venice again where we ate yummy food and shopped till we dropped…I think I have an addiction to Anthropologie!  So here are some photos from the day…enjoy!

As you will see from the mass amount of dessert photos I couldn’t pass up the chance to sample many of their desserts…this first photo is of their Passion Cake….think mascarpone, passion fruit, and fresh mango. It was so refreshing, creamy, and light, not to mention gorgeous…I loved it!

This next dessert was their Abbot Cake, named after the street the patisserie is located on.  They describe it as “Caramel banana over a honey walnut sponge cake, filled with dark chocolate cream made with semi-sweet chocolate cocoa”…can you DELICIOUS!!!  This was my husband’s favorite!

We also couldn’t pass up sampling their macaroons.  We tried the Caramel Fleur de Sel and the Pistachio. Both were scrumptious!

Lastly, we tried some of their chocolates.  My memory might be failing me here, but I think we ordered the Cinnamon, Green Tea, and Sea Salt Caramel.

Overall, we had a wonderful anniversary and our trip to Jin Patisserie lived up to all the dreams I had in my head.  Definitely check it out if you are in the area!

3 Square Bakery + Cafe Review

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Recently my sweet husband took me on a fun trip to Venice, CA.  Although I have lived in California my whole life I have only been to Venice a couple times and hadn’t been in quite a while.  We had an amazing time shopping at all of the trendy shops and walking along the beach.  We also had a great time seeing all the crazy street performers, but my favorite part of the day was eating lunch at the 3 Square Cafe.  Located on Abbot Kinney, one of the main streets filled with cute shops and yummy restaurants, this cafe and bakery is right on the corner and a perfect stopping place for a fantastic meal…breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  The restaurant itself has a great vibe and I loved how they decorated it!  Overall, I thought this was something I had to share with my fellow bloggers just incase you find yourself in Venice sometime and need a good recommendation.

My husband, Tim, ordered the pretzel burger with swiss cheese, caramelized onions and french fries.  This was one delicious burger!  The pretzel bun was out of this world and the burger wasn’t any less.  Overall, this was a fantastic choice…I’ve taught my husband well!

Now since I’m the type of person who loves to sample a bite off of everyone’s plate I decided to go with the Mini Sandwich Sampler.  Once I made that decision, which was a hard one since everything on the menu was calling out to me, I had to also choose which three sandwiches I wanted.  I finally came to my decision and chose the Bavarian Meatloaf on Pretzel Roll with Sweet Mustard, the Shrimp Grilled Cheese, and the Tuna Salad with Avocado and Red Onion on Brioche Roll.  Each mini sandwich also came with its own side of pickled vegetables.  Now tell me these photos don’t make your mouth start watering!

Now of course I couldn’t leave Venice without checking out their bakery next door, so when I stopped in to take a look I snapped some photos and then picked up a homemade pretzel for the road…boy was it good!

The only sad thing about the trip was that Jin Patisserie was closed that day!  Well, I guess it gives me another excuse to go back to Venice soon!
