Winter Wonderland Photo Shoot

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

One thing I love about the wedding industry is that we get to do photoshoots! Photoshoots are a time where we can push the envelope, be as creative as we want, and really let our personal style and design come through!  From the first moment that I heard Jesi Haack, from Jesi Haack Weddings and Carissa, from JL Designs, were doing a photoshoot that was going to be shot by Jessica Claire I knew I had to be in on it!  Jessica wanted to do a winter wonderland style photoshoot and Jesi & Carissa really came through with a fun, new, and very creative styled shoot.  I love all of the scarves and pops of color.  To get more details on the shoot definitely check out Jessica Claire’s Website!

One fun tidbit of info is that the gorgeous models are actually friends of mine! Darren & Alex did an amazing job & looked stunning!

Carissa’s flowers were so breathtaking I couldn’t believe it when I first saw the photos!

The table setup out in the middle of the snow was just dreamy and Jane, from Olive Hue Paper, created such fun and creative invitations!  You can always count on Jesi Haack to find such great accent pieces, like these chairs!

For the cake I wanted to go simplistic with a pop of color, but I also wanted some movement on the cake, so I decided to go with petal tiers instead of round or square, to give the cake an interested shape. Then I put a grey pearl border around each tier and accented it with a large open purple peony!  I was really in love with how this sugar flower came out and thought that it was bold enough to stand on its own.

Pops of Color

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

When I first met with the bride and her mother about 6 months ago for a consultation I automatically knew that I really wanted to book this wedding!  They were  fun, creative, and full of excitement for their big day and being from Texas and having a wedding here in California they had done their homework and found Courtney Toney, from Joyful Weddings & Events, to help plan for their wedding.  I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a fabulous planner, whether for the whole wedding process or at least just for the day of…they can make your wedding 10 times more enjoyable, creative, and memorable.  Courtney recommend Carissa, from JL Designs to our clients too and they fell in love (like they always do!).  So now I was really wanting the job and luckily they wanted me too!  This was such a fun wedding to plan for and was full of pops of color, fresh flowers, and cute details.  When I got to the venue I was blown away with the set-up that Courtney & Carissa had pulled off…it was just perfect! Here are some fabulous photos from Melissa Kelsey Photography of the day…enjoy!

I was so excited for my dessert display because I knew Courtney was making me a fabulous backdrop and Carissa blew me away with the wheat grass and fresh tulip display for my cake stand to sit on…how amazing it that!?!  I wanted to pull together all the fun pops of color and make this display delicious eye candy!  The bride loved the cake I designed while I was in Ron Ben Israel’s class last year, so since I don’t like copying exact cakes that I have done before we switched it up by changing around the color scheme, flowers, and details…I loved how it turned out and was so excited once I put it on the cake stand!

For the mini desserts we did monogram sugar cookies, mini key lime pies, passion fruit, coconut, macadamia nut tarts, mini cheesecakes with fresh raspberries, and cake lollipops.

And of course I had to snap a photo of my fabulous business partner, friend, and master cake lollipop maker…my wonderful mother!!!

I don’t know how I ever thought I could run a whole store/business without her! She, along with my whole family, has been more amazing than I could ever of hoped and dreamed for.  After pulling 36 hours straight last weekend without sleep (yes, I overbooked)  I was even more grateful for the immense amount of help my mother has been!

Photoshoot!!!

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Last week I had the pleasure of being featured on Green Wedding Shoes and Snippet & Ink!!!  A couple months ago I was asked by the fabulous Carissa, of JL Designs to do a photoshoot!  I was so excited when she said that Jasmine Star would be shooting the photos and I was so happy with how everything turned out!

The first look was an eco-chic tablescape.  Carissa had such great ideas for this table and the end product turned out amazing! For the cakes I chose to go with three smaller size cakes instead of one large cake.  I love this look and hope to do this for more upcoming weddings!   I used fresh flowers for these cakes and combined different size cake tiers to get a modern look.  To get more details on the table design visit Carissa & Jasmine’s blog on the links above.

The second shoot of the day was a French Farmhouse look!  I love all of Carissa’s eclectic pieces for this table, such as the hens and pitchers of artichokes.  Wildflower linens really supplied us with some gorgeous linens for the table too!

For the cake I decided to go with a white-on-white look and I put subtle details on each tier of the cake.  I added intricate lace and sugar buttons to the cake and accented it with a gorgeous sugar gardena.

JasmineStar_FrechFarmhouse0018Hope these gorgeous photos inspire you as much as they did me…thanks so much to all the talented ladies that made this happen!
