Fun Pops of Color

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Sometimes when designing cake I tend to stay to more neutral colors and wouldn’t always think to cover a whole cake in all color, but these next two cakes definitely remind me that some fun pops of color just might be the perfect thing sometimes!

I have to thank my amazingly talented friend Michelle, from Mibelle Photography, for the stunning photos.  She is always so sweet and orders so many cakes from me and I am even more lucky when I get the photos back from the events!  This yellow floral cake was one she ordered for her best friend’s bridal shower.  I loved the room decorations they put up and they even rented the clear stand from my friend Carissa and filled it with lemons and more florals…love it!

Some of you might recognize this cake design since it was one I came up with based off a painting and Sydney loved the original so much she wanted to do it for her wedding cake as well, but this time we did it in a fun purple color.  Kyong did this cake and I think it turned out perfectly!

Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Wedding

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

I am so excited to share this post with you!!!  We have loved working with Tori & Dean on their new show “sTORIbook Weddings“!  We taped three weddings with them and our first wedding they are airing is the Shabby Chic themed wedding we got to work on with Jeni & Alyson from, Found Vintage Rentals, who provided all the fabulous vintage rentals and Jaclyne of Heavenly Blooms did the gorgeous florals!

I had a crazy idea of hanging small cakes inside wire birdcages and then having Jaclyne hang florals in jars as well and I have to say my vision came to life pretty well!

We accented the mini cupcakes we vintage fondant flowers.

I also really loved these mini mason jar red velvet cakes that we tied with lace and added a wooden spoon to!

For the wedding cake the bride loved the idea of having her wedding cake in teal and then we accented it with sugar lace doilies.

Kristin’s Baby Shower

Friday, February 18th, 2011

I know I have been featuring LOTS of baby showers lately, but the truth is that I have lots of pregnant friends right now…I guess it’s that time!  I love the look of this shower that Angel Swanson, of Love and Splendor, put together for our friend Kristin, of Petal and Thorn.  The earthy, woodsy feel is so gorgeous looking and perfect for a fall time baby shower.

Here are some close up’s of the cake I took at the shop.  We made a wood grain effect on the chocolate fondant and then accented it with a large fushia gloriosa lily sugar flower.

Little Boys & Bow Ties!

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

This post is definitely special to my heart! I had the pleasure along with Carissa of JL Designs & Courtney of Joyful Weddings & Events, of throwing one of my best girlfriends Jesi, from Jesi Haack Weddings a little baby shower to celebrate the birth of her adorable little son Maverick.  Jesi has been such a blessing in my life and I loved being about to give back to her just a little.  The theme that Courtney came up with was “Bow ties” and I have to say I was smitten with it from the start.

The talented ladies, Karrie & Elizabeth, from Posh Paperie created the cutest invitations and paper pieces for the party.  Of course I have to say a HUGE thank you to Carlie, of Gabriel Ryan Photography for the fabulous photos…they are just perfect!

A fun little side not about the shower is that it was actually held at my new house I bought last year.  Carissa did a beautiful job with the flowers & Courtney’s little accents along the way were so much fun.

I had so much fun using some of the pieces from Sweet & Saucy Supply for the shower.  The colorful stands are such a great pop of color on the table.

Gorgeous DIY wedding!

Monday, January 24th, 2011

I have some eye candy for you today!  This next wedding is the perfect example of a beautiful outdoor wedding with amazing details & lots of love!  The bride Stacy, was really involved in every aspect of the wedding design and made almost all of the handmade details herself!  Thanks so much to Jeffery Wallace Photography for the stunning photos!  Carissa from JL Designs created the lovely, lush florals and Jesi Haack, from Jesi Haack Weddings made the whole day flow together seamlessly!

Here’s what Jesi had to say about Stacy…

“Stacy Stacy Stacy.  My soul mate.  My fellow anal retentive crazy woman.  I’m not kidding, she handed me her wedding file that put mine to shame.  She also designed her entire wedding, and it kicked some serious booty!  I cannot choose my favorites, so this will be my first 2 part blog post!  This wedding was crafty, cute, clever and creative and I wish I could take credit for everything. But I cannot.  Stacy, you are my hero.”
