This wedding is pure beauty!  The couple, the flowers, the venue…..everything is simply breathtaking!  I had a such a great time working with Lauren on her wedding and she was a true dream bride.  She really valued my opinion and trusted in me to pull off her vision!  Hayley & Nate did the set up for this wedding and Carissa from JL Designs did the flowers  & design for the wedding and our lovely mini dessert bar as well!  The talented Yelena Johnson, of The Stylish Soiree, also did the gorgeous wedding design too & I have to say that I loved every detail.  Thanks to Aaron Delesie for the beautiful photos!

The ceremony is simply dreamy!

Lauren & Brian were truly picture perfect!  I also loved how throughout the whole wedding you could tell they were having such a great time!

The details for the reception were so unique and I loved every bit of it!

The flowers that Carissa did were so beautiful…

No onto the desserts!  We did a full mini dessert bar filled with mini cupcakes, cookies, and cake lollipops!  I really wish we could’ve done their wedding cake too, but it came with the venue.  At least Lauren came up with a great idea and we surprised Brian with a boxing glove cake since he is loves watching & participating in boxing matches.

The boxing glove cake…

And they lived happily ever after!

Wedding Season has Begun!!!

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Boy have we been busy, busy, busy at the shop!  Two weeks ago I had 8 weddings in one weekend, this weekend we have 6, and next weekend we have 8 again!  With that being said, I have LOTS of fun photos to share with you and I hope you enjoy them!

This first cake might be one of my favorites yet!  I recently hired on a new employee, Kyong, who interned with us at the shop for 2 months & right from the start I saw how talented she was at cake decorating.  She paints flawlessly & it truly has become one of my favorite touches to add to wedding cakes!

We decided to add sugar orchids to the top of the cake and Sara did an amazing job with them!

I made a large sugar ruffle at the bottom and it was all finished!

The next wedding cake I took inspiration from their wedding invitation and did the circle pattern all over the cake!  I loved it!

We then accented the cake with ruffly style anenome flowers!  Overall I loved the color combo and design!

They also wanted a lot of fun mini desserts & I have to say that their dessert tags the bride got were beyond adorable!

I have also had the pleasure of doing a lot of fun groom’s cakes lately.  This next cake was my first football helmet & I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out!  The whole thing is cake & then we used bendable pipe to make the front of the mask.

The wedding cake that went with this groom’s cake was equally fun!  She wanted to incorporate her color scheme of copper & sage, her damask pattern, and the orchid’s & butterflies that were going to be at her wedding…and this is what we came up with!

Everything on the cake is made out of sugar!

Lastly we had the pleasure of doing another small, yet intricate cake for a recent wedding in which I just fell in love with the design.  The handpainting & sugar flower definitely make it one of a kind!  The pattern was taken off of the ring bearer pillow & I think it transferred beautifully onto the cake.

Thanks again for stopping by my blog!  I bet most of you know from following my twitter account that we have a fun new adventure happening at Sweet & Saucy Shop!  We have decided to start a new online store featuring the BEST cake stands, platters, domes, cupcake liners, etc…basically any dessert item that you crave!  We are hoping to have the shop up by the end of the month, so definitely stay tuned!

Homestyle Vintage Wedding

Monday, April 26th, 2010

I had a great last weekend full of fun weddings with lots of great details and I just had to share this one with you.  The bride’s mother planned a lot of the details for the day and then hired on the amazing Amanda from In the Now to further help with the design & make sure the day came together perfectly…and boy did it!  The wedding reception was dessert only and so we had a lot of fun doing all sorts of yummy treats!  The bride wanted a three tier cake, plus 4 rustic style cakes, and then loads of mini desserts.  Overall it turned out great!  These rustic salted caramel apple pies were too cute!

I just love milk glass vases and tiny clusters of flowers!

Mini Rice Krispy Treats dipped in yellow chocolate!

The vintage furniture they picked up made the whole wedding in my opinion!

For the cake we did a 3 tier yellow buttercream cake with tiny white dots.

How cute are these cupcake liner flowers that Amanda made!

Hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I did…bright, cheery, and lots of gorgeous details!

Pops of Color

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

When I first met with the bride and her mother about 6 months ago for a consultation I automatically knew that I really wanted to book this wedding!  They were  fun, creative, and full of excitement for their big day and being from Texas and having a wedding here in California they had done their homework and found Courtney Toney, from Joyful Weddings & Events, to help plan for their wedding.  I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a fabulous planner, whether for the whole wedding process or at least just for the day of…they can make your wedding 10 times more enjoyable, creative, and memorable.  Courtney recommend Carissa, from JL Designs to our clients too and they fell in love (like they always do!).  So now I was really wanting the job and luckily they wanted me too!  This was such a fun wedding to plan for and was full of pops of color, fresh flowers, and cute details.  When I got to the venue I was blown away with the set-up that Courtney & Carissa had pulled off…it was just perfect! Here are some fabulous photos from Melissa Kelsey Photography of the day…enjoy!

I was so excited for my dessert display because I knew Courtney was making me a fabulous backdrop and Carissa blew me away with the wheat grass and fresh tulip display for my cake stand to sit on…how amazing it that!?!  I wanted to pull together all the fun pops of color and make this display delicious eye candy!  The bride loved the cake I designed while I was in Ron Ben Israel’s class last year, so since I don’t like copying exact cakes that I have done before we switched it up by changing around the color scheme, flowers, and details…I loved how it turned out and was so excited once I put it on the cake stand!

For the mini desserts we did monogram sugar cookies, mini key lime pies, passion fruit, coconut, macadamia nut tarts, mini cheesecakes with fresh raspberries, and cake lollipops.

Love these ladies…

And of course I had to snap a photo of my fabulous business partner, friend, and master cake lollipop maker…my wonderful mother!!!

I don’t know how I ever thought I could run a whole store/business without her! She, along with my whole family, has been more amazing than I could ever of hoped and dreamed for.  After pulling 36 hours straight last weekend without sleep (yes, I overbooked)  I was even more grateful for the immense amount of help my mother has been!

Sarah & Cezanne’s Wedding

Friday, July 24th, 2009

I have been waiting for a while to post this uber-fun wedding!  I knew when I first met the couple that this was going to be very creative and beautiful wedding!  They had such fabulous ideas and weren’t scared of putting in the extra time to pull off a one-of-a-kind dessert display.  Not only were they super creative, but their wedding planner and my personal friend, Jesi Haack of Jesi Haack Weddings, is one of those people who is SO talented and loves pulling off gorgeous, yet unique events!  Thanks so much to my other friend, Adrianne Bonafede, who is a great photographer and came along with me to help capture a lot of these yummy images.  Their wedding photographer, Juan Posada, of Posada Photo shot some lovely images too and was kind enough to share them with me!

On a side note I wanted to say “THANK YOU” to all my blog readers because this past week I passed the 1,000,000 view mark!!! I could’ve never imagined having that many views on my site…when my husband first suggested I start writing a blog I thought he was crazy…I remember saying to him “Who would want to read what I write and look at my silly little photos!”  BUT I guess I was mistaken, and I have to say thanks for proving me wrong!  This has been so much fun and I absolutely love getting to connect with people all over the world through this silly little blog!

Here is a little behind the scenes info about the wedding via Jesi Haack’s blog…

“This clean, modern, design inspired wedding showcased Sarah and Cezanne’s love for ultra-hip designer, Jonathan Adler and The Parker, a chic resort in Palm Springs. From the custom designed monogram, courtesy of the groom, to the fruity, Creamsicle signature cocktails, it was impossible for their guests not to feel drenched in chic exuberance.  Each reception table claimed the name of one of the couples’ favorite mid century designers and the fortune cookie favors illustrated the story of their engagement.  Everywhere they looked the guests were refreshed with an eyeful of buttercream yellow, tangerine orange and lime green detail.  The tantalizingly tempting dessert display had every taste bud in the room screaming for a mini-cake lollipop, or a mouthful of cotton candy.  Paired with the newly renovated, modern decor of The Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach, it was a dynamic display that could not be matched.  Maybe not even by The Parker itself :)”

Sarah & Cezanne both wanted their guests to enjoy an array of tasty mini desserts as well as having a custom wedding cake that incorporated the pattern they created which was seen throughout their wedding.  We used edible frosting sheets to print the pattern on the cake as well as on the sugar cookies and then created handmade sugar orchids to surround the top tier of the cake. I have to say that my sister outdid herself with these flowers…they are gorgeous!

Here are some more details shots of the wedding!

For the mini desserts we decided to pull the yellow and orange color scheme throughout the look by adding cute candy to the cupcakes and using liners that matched too!

We then dipped the chocolate cake pops and pretzels in matching chocolate as well.

A couple more detail shots of the wedding…

And last, but not least the glorious little mini key lime pies, passion fruit, coconut, macadamia nut tarts, and monogram cookies…aren’t they cute!

And what’s a dessert bar without a little cotton candy!

Thanks so much Sarah & Cezanne for letting me be apart of your special day!
