Easter Desserts

Wednesday, March 25th, 2015

Can you believe it’s already that time of year again? Spring has sprung and we’ve got Easter treats hopping your way! We have tons of options no matter how many loved ones you want to get hopped up (get it?!) on sugar or what your budget is.  The best part is that our cute chick, bunny, and Easter egg desserts are absolutely perfect for any age group: put them in an Easter basket, take them to share at church or to your family’s Easter breakfast, brunch or dinner and I guarantee the only thing they will love more than the Sweet and Saucy treats is YOU for bringing them! It’s a win, win, right? This year in addition to the more traditionally decorated desserts that you’d expect to see, we’ve added some florals to the mix.  What I love about these is they would work for any sort of spring-time party and aren’t limited to just Easter, which is nice.  We have some gorgeous piped floral buttercream cupcakes, hand painted floral Macarons by our Macaron queen, Jess Marvel, and last but not least, a pretty, textured buttercream cake with hand piped springtime florals on top.  These would all make for a seriously beautiful Easter dessert spread! Side note: just in case you’re curious about prices, all Easter pre-order pricing will be listed at the bottom of this post.

Floral Easter Cake

How adorable are these hatching baby chick and gold leaf meringues made by our bakery manager, Jenn and cake decorator, Kasey? They come packaged in sets of four and tied with a pretty coral bow. Perfect for gifting!

Birds nest cupcakes, anyone? They come in both regular and mini sizes for momma birds and their baby birds.

Baby chick cake pops and their Easter egg siblings resting snug in their nest.  Crinkle paper in our pretty pink bowls is a cute nest-like display for these little guys.  If these pops don’t have something to prop them up they will lay flat on their backs.  Need to rent some cake stands or bowls for your Easter dessert table? Contact us at either of our two locations and we’ve got you covered!

Our classic cake pops with festive sprinkles and sanding sugar are always in season, no matter what holiday or time of the year

We will have two sizes of Rice Krispy Treats available for pre-order this year.  The mini eggs come in packs of four (great for little hands!), and the large flower and eggs are sold individually. Each one comes dipped in white chocolate and is then drizzled with more white chocolate and covered in sprinkles or sanding sugar. Who says Rice Krispy Treats are only for kids? That is a complete myth!

Here is a little piece of advice: you can never have too many macarons at a party.  One turns in to four and before you know it, they’re all gone. But hey, no one’s judging. Jess decorated a variety of macaron eggs for you to choose from in addition to the chicks!  They can be made any flavor your heart desires.

macarons-4 Not everyone is crazy about sugar cookies with royal icing– but have you tried ours?  If you’re not a believer, I think we can change your mind.  Even if you aren’t set on having them at your party, they’ll be sure to please your guests and sit extra pretty before they are devoured. 314-10-1

314-9     I wasn’t joking when I said we have tons of options.  This year’s pricelist is 3 pages of Easter goodness. Make sure you all put in your orders as soon as you possibly can, as we need time to prepare these special treats for you and that weekend will fill up super fast! Have you decided what to pick for your Easter get-together yet?  If you need help deciding, be sure to give us a ring at either our Long Beach or Newport Beach shop.  Don’t forget that Sweet and Saucy Shop Long Beach & Newport Beach is closed on Easter Sundays so get your orders in for pick up Saturday!EASTERpricelist1 pricing2 pricing32

Summer Wedding Cakes Part II

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013

Well I am COMPLETELY behind on blogging cakes from last year, so here are some from last summer!  Time sure does fly when you have a 10 month old and two bakeries!  Shout out to my team of cake girls who consistently make gorgeous cakes all year round: Kyong, Irene, Kasey, & Frances, plus Jenna who isn’t with us anymore, but worked on a lot of these lovely cakes!! First up sugar flowers and dot lace…

Gold definitely is one of my favorite colors on cakes these days!

Coral peony anyone…swoon!

Simple, smooth buttercream with flower cluster accent.

One of our most requested vintage lace cakes with sugar peonies.

We did this cake for Utterly Engaged Magazine and based the design off a Vera Wang wedding dress!

Rosette buttercream cake!

Client requested and we delivered..lots and lots of sugar flowers!

I do love square rustic cakes…so modern and cute!

Vintage flower lace with sugar ranunculus!

Probably our most requested design this last year…ombre buttercream!  This time we accented it with a sugar cabbage rose!

Here is another ombre design, but this time in rustic form…sooo pretty!  Love the gold heart accent too!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Summer Wedding Cakes

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

With summer always comes a time of year where we make more wedding cakes than we can count!  One weekend this summer we even had 45 cakes (wedding & specialty)!  I don’t know how the girls fit it all in the fridges, but they managed and we came out with some beautiful new cake designs!

First up one of my favorites of the season…bright coral sugar peonies, a teal/mint fondant base, and edible white sugar lace doilies.

Next is a more elegant lace cake with a pretty pink bow that has a silver jewel for the center.

This fun cake was a main feature in California Wedding Day Magazine.  They wanted to feature the trend of “ombre” so I decided to do a pink ombre and then add an unexpected pop of turquoise.  We then accented it with some pink sugar ranunculus!

One of our most popular summer cakes is our rustic style frosted wedding cake.  It is such a simple, yet gorgeous sight and I loved how the ladies of BashPlease accented it with these gorgeous florals for a wedding we did with them!

Our tallest cake of the season is the next one up!  I had to personally go set this one up to make sure it stood up nice and straight and thankfully it turned out great!

We have lots of Marie Antoinette fans out there and for this wedding they wanted lots of blush pink and gold…dreamy!

These next photos are right after the set up so the whole room wasn’t finished or cleaned up, but I just had to share all the pretty!

Another fun trend we started was the ombre buttercream cake.  I love this yellow one and then the large pop of the teal peony is such a sweet surprise!

Clean and modern defines this next cake with simple navy stripes and gorgeous golden sugar peonies.

Just had to include this mini wedding cake…a tiny 4″ cake with quilting, sugar pearls, and then accented with a real dahlia.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!  Definitely let us know which one was your favorite!

Recent Kid & Party Cakes

Monday, April 9th, 2012

We have been busy, busy at the shop making lots of fun cakes for kid’s birthday parties & baby showers and here are just a couple recent photos…

First up is an adorable Sesame Street Cake complete with a hand sculpted Elmo by Kyong!  Recently since I was pregnant and now have my little one I haven’t been working on many cakes, but rather getting ready for the new shop in Newport Beach and spending time with my little one, so Kyong, Jenna, & Irene have been doing all the cakes and I have to say I love seeing how they all turn out!

Still sticking with the Sesame Street theme here is an adorable Big Bird cake!  Kyong did a fab job with this figurine too!

Kyong went on vacation for a week this month and Jenna & Irene really did a great job with lots of cakes!  This fun topsy turvy cake was for a 15th anniversary celebration and their love of Micky & Minnie Mouse was definitely on display as well!

Gotta love a Super Hero Cake!

I think this Dora cake is so simple and sweet…the flags/party hats are such a great little addition to the design!

This is next cake is quite over the top and lots of fun!  The sweets theme is carried out perfectly on each tier I think and I love the color scheme as well!

First birthday cakes are always a lot of fun to do and this next cake was no different.  It was for one of our best customers, Michelle from MiBelle!  Her little son Izzy turned one and she wanted a fun, modern cake that pulled in the “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” Book theme.  We did a play off of our popular hand painted wedding silhouette cake and instead did the words to the book!

One really popular style of cake these days at the bakery is our smooth ombre/color style cake.  Irene is a definite pro at it and I love these next two cakes she did…one for a birthday and one for a baby shower!

Baby Showers are such a great excuse to get a cute cake and this next cake has a serious cuteness factor to it!  I love the little saying…”Look Whoooo’s Having a Baby…”

This next cake is a great twist on a popular baby shower cake we do, but they switched it up with the adorable sign and patterns on the cake.

This is a new design and I love it!  How cute is the little topper!?!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!  Definitely let us know what cake was your favorite!

For the cake they wanted something really fun, bold, and different.  Melanie threw out the idea of doing something with donuts and then I just ran with that idea.  I absolutely love the “ombre” color trend right now so I thought I would tie that into the design too.  I bought mini Krispy Kreme donuts and dipped them in different shades of orange icing and then put tiny white sprinkles on top.  Overall I was pretty happy with the fun cake!
