New Store Front Window Design

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Well as many of my blog posts start…”I’ve been meaning to post this for forever”!  I am so in love with my new window design that the talented girls over at Proost Event Design & Planning created for me!  You definitely have to check out their fabulous website and blog as they are quite the talented sisters!

I basically gave them free reign on the backdrop and I love the pops of summery colors they pulled together.  The overall design is so fresh and clean looking…definitely my style!  All my clients love it as much as we do and if you are looking to get pieces created for your party or special day definitely check them out!

My front window is so hard to photograph since there is such bad reflection, but hopefully you can see just how gorgeous it is!

One of My Favorite Cakes!

Monday, June 20th, 2011

We get to make lots of wedding cakes during the year, but certain cakes come along and make me so inspired and this cake was one of them!  I loved designing the cake based off of a wedding dress from Anthropologie’s new wedding website BHLDN and then meshing it with the style of the bride’s wedding design.  They were a wonderful couple to work with and I think their wedding just turned out dream-like.  They got married at the gorgeous Rancho Las Lomas and of course has Found Vintage Rentals to deck out the whole venue with their amazing furniture pieces & rentals.  White Haute Photography snapped the stunning images and Larissa from, Inviting Occasions, did the lovely florals.  You can check out all the other great venues down below!

Like I said this has to be one of my favorite cake designs.  It has so much texture and design, but is still modern and clean looking.  I basically did all the sugar flowers and lace molds by hand and then accented some pieces with pewter silver.  Here is the dress from BHLDN that inspired me!

Ace Hotel Photo Shoot

Monday, June 13th, 2011

Happy Monday!  I am so happy to share this next photo shoot with you…it might be one of my favorites of all time!!!  One of my best girlfriends, Jesi Haack, wanted to do a fun shoot at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs and I knew I had to be in on it.  I love the fun pops of color everywhere and the florals that my sweet friend Carissa, from JL Designs, created are simply stunning! Gabriel Ryan Photography shot the fabulous photos!

For the cake I was really inspired by a chevron style pillow I saw online and wanted to mimic that on the cake, so Kyong hand painted the design in various color and then we accented the top of the cake with a vibrant sugar flower!

Fun Pops of Color

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Sometimes when designing cake I tend to stay to more neutral colors and wouldn’t always think to cover a whole cake in all color, but these next two cakes definitely remind me that some fun pops of color just might be the perfect thing sometimes!

I have to thank my amazingly talented friend Michelle, from Mibelle Photography, for the stunning photos.  She is always so sweet and orders so many cakes from me and I am even more lucky when I get the photos back from the events!  This yellow floral cake was one she ordered for her best friend’s bridal shower.  I loved the room decorations they put up and they even rented the clear stand from my friend Carissa and filled it with lemons and more florals…love it!

Some of you might recognize this cake design since it was one I came up with based off a painting and Sydney loved the original so much she wanted to do it for her wedding cake as well, but this time we did it in a fun purple color.  Kyong did this cake and I think it turned out perfectly!

More Eye Candy Coming Your Way!

This first cake has to be one of Kyong’s sweetest creations yet!  The theme was candy land and this is what Kyong dreamt up…don’t you just love it!!!

We get lots of requests for Toy Story cakes and I love this next one with the jean and cowboy print pattern.  The badges are so fun too.

For this sweet baby shower cake we pipped on tiny dots to mimic the clothing lines and then hung some baby onsies on them.

Lastly one of my favorite shower cakes I’ve done…I just love the simplicity of it…the buttons, sugar thread, and delicate sugar flower.  I got the chance to make this cake for a high school friend of mine and it was such a pleasure.

I also made some matching button sugar cookies.  We frosted them with royal icing so they tasted yummy and delicious and then I draped a super thin piece of fondant on top to give it the detail and texture it needed.

Lots of fun photo shoots!

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Most of the wedding industry knows that I am pretty addicted to doing photos shoot!  I just love being able to have full control of coming up with a new cake or dessert design and the whole process is really a lot of fun for me since I get to try out new techniques and push the design boundaries :)

This first shoot was such a fun one we did for Styled Magazine, which is a new online magazine that my talented friend Vicky started.  She had a great idea of having one inspirational image and sending it to a bunch of different wedding vendors and seeing what they’d come up with.

Screen shot 2011-03-29 at 1.10.41 PM

I loved this inspiration photo below and immediately wanted to do an out-of-the-box design for this mini cake.

Screen shot 2011-03-29 at 1.01.50 PM

We made white pom pom sugar flowers and then for the cake I thought it would be fun to do the top half of the cake black and the bottom white…I love the bold contrast and once we threw the sprinkles on the cake it just completed it perfectly!

IMG_8801

IMG_8779

IMG_8788

IMG_8791

Of course we have to add some cute french macarons to the shoot and we even sprinkled them with the colorful sprinkles too…

This next shoot was for another online wedding magazine called NonPareil.  I was so excited to be featured in it as well and for this shoot we took a more modern, clean, preppy approach to the design.  I got to work with Vicky, from City Cradle Design, again, The Floral Lab, who did the beautiful flowers, and the talented Jackie Wonders snapped the gorgeous photos!

We created two flavors of french macarons for the shoot, a large cake, and accented the table with some fun bright candy!

I love the look of grey, yellow and white together and I thought the bold pops of color and pattern on the cake turned out nicely.

Lastly I had the pleasure of working with a fabulous team on this next shoot.  I love the combo of green and white together and this shoot shows why! Kathy & Susan from Bella Weddings & Events did the planning & design, Carissa, from JL Designs, did the stunning florals, and Leila, from Be Inspired PR, produced the whole shoot!  You can check out the rest of the amazing team down below! Also big thanks to Barnaby Draper Studios for the great photos!

The whole shoot was at the Vibiana in LA ad I have to say it is one of the most breathtaking venues in California!

green-wedding-ideas-04

green-wedding-ideas-05

For the wedding cake we wanted to keep it all white on white, but add plenty of gorgeous texture to it, so we made sugar patterns and lace to accent the tiers and piped on small white dots to accent it.

We also did some bright green apples dipped in white chocolate…love the color contrast!
