A Watercolor Wedding Shoot

Get ready for a eye popping gorgeous explosion of colors! This fun wedding shoot I got to be a part of is full of bright pops of color and inspired by watercolor paintings & pop art. Katie from, Bella Destinee, put together the whole shoot and did such a great job! Scott Clark Photography took the beautiful photos for the shoot and I have to thank Leila from, Wedding Pr, for bringing me on the team for this shoot!

This might be one of my favorite cakes we have ever made a Sweet & Saucy Shop. I got inspired by the beautiful watercolor I saw on a wedding dress via pinterest and knew we could make a gorgeous cake from that. I love how the burst of color is at the bottom of the cake and then it goes up to all white at the top. I decided to do an all white magnolia sugar flower so that it blended in to the top of the cake and kept it modern and clean looking. Kyong did the lovely watercolor hand painting and I just love how it turned out!

We also were able to do a full watercolor inspired mini dessert bar which included mini cupcakes with mini french macarons, cake lollipops, and shot glass desserts!

Kentucky Derby Wedding Inspiration

Well with the Kentucky Derby this weekend I thought I would share with you a recent photo shoot that I was a part of that features the bright, bold, and fun look of the Derby! Jessi from You and Me Events asked me to be a part of the shoot and I’m so glad I did as I think the whole shoot turned out gorgeous! Since the inspiration for the shoot had all of the fun colors I thought I would try something different and do a bold cake with bright sugar flowers. I thought the ranunculus flower would be perfect and we did them in shades of pink, orange, and yellow. I have to say this might be one of my all time favorite cakes!

Desert Elopement Photo Shoot

Well you if frequent wedding blogs a lot you most likely saw the lovely post that Style Me Pretty did on this gorgeous shoot I got to be a part of last Friday! Abby called the shoot “Vintage Desert Chic” and I quite like the name she gave it! Megan Hartley, who took all the beautiful photos, asked me to be a part of the shoot and I jumped at the chance. The inspiration board that Whitney, from Whit Mitt Design & Events, had come up with was breathtaking and I knew the shoot would be gorgeous! I actually went to school with both of these ladies and I even got to do the desserts for Whitney’s lovely wedding! She had now gone into the wedding business as well and I think she has quite the talent for it!

Art with Nature Floral Design did the stunning florals for the shoot…I absolutely LOVE this bouquet!

For the cake I wanted to veer off of the traditional white wedding cake and do a subtle taupe color for the base. Then we accented the cake with a sugar succulent and some tiny dogwood flowers. For the topper I had Kyong make a ball of yarn and then a tiny spool as well with the bride & groom’s initials etched on it! We also crimped the top of each tier to give it some texture and then wrapped some edible yarn around the base tier.

Since it was a smaller size cake I thought it would be fun to do some cupcakes as well and we accented them with tiny sugar flowers too!

Whimsical Warehouse Elopement Photo Shoot

The lovely girls from over at GATHER Events and Occasions asked me to be a part of this Urban Photo Shoot and I loved the concept. Heirloom catering made some of the best looking food for the shoot…they have to be on my top list for “NEED TO TRY” since I have only seen millions of delicious looking photos of their food, but never been able to actually taste it! Hopefully one day soon!

For the cake design I knew I didn’t want to do a traditional white cake, so we paired grey, cream, and peach together and I love the combo! For the grey bottom you can’t see all the detail we did, but we imprinted the bottom with a doily like pattern to give it texture and detail and then covered the top two tiers in peach fondant. Then we did a simple sugar lace doily to lay under the cluster of sugar flowers.

New Wedding Cake Designs

I thought I would share some new cake designs we’ve done lately! Up first one of my favorites from this last summer. A peacock feather bohemian style head piece inspired the cake design. We made the cake head piece all out of sugar and then did a white on white pattern for the base of the cake to give it some texture.

I just love the color palette for this cake.

Up next an example of a romantic wedding cake with touches of blush pink and white sugar roses cascading up the front.

This cake is definitely more modern with a bold color and pattern on the base tier and then a sugar peony we colored silver.

This is one of my favorite all white on white wedding cakes…it’s so delicate and romantic looking!

This next cake was inspired by a cake design from The Caketress that one of my clients loved and then we put our own spin on it to incorporate her wedding style and design.

Last but not least a sampling of cakes to mimic the iconic “Cakes” painting by Wayne Thiebaud. Irene did a great job with all of these cakes and the client loved them!

Shipwreck Photo Shoot

I absolutely LOVE these photos from this photo shoot I got to be a part of for a feature in Nonpareil Wedding Magazine! Jen, from Green Wedding Shoes, came up with the idea for the shoot and Cortnie, from Canvas & Canopy, brought it all to life with the help of Meg, from Le Partie Events, who did the breathtaking florals! For the first cake for the shoot I took a more masculine take on it and did a basic outline on the cake and then did a sugar succulent on top of the cake.

For this next cake I did a more feminine look it. I covered the cake in coral fondant and then did grey sugar lace and a whimsy sugar flower.

This next cake might be one of my favs…I love the mint green color, the cluster sugar flowers in three different colors, the sugar threads, and the white lace!
